Preschool students at Timmons Elementary learned that it's never too early to start practicing fire safety and prevention. In October, Assistant Fire Chief Wayne Burge visited the preschool classes to help students become more aware of fire safety both at school and at home.
During his visit, he discussed the importance of working smoke detectors and taught students what to do if a fire occurs, including never hiding, identifying a family meeting place outside the home, and never entering a burning building. Assistant Chief Burge also showed the students his uniform and reminded them that firefighters are there to help and protect them.
The visit offered a fun and educational opportunity for young learners to understand essential fire safety habits that can help keep them and their families safe.
