I wonder project

Third-graders at Timmons Elementary School gave visitors a quick glimpse into what makes students wonder. Kristine Edwards' third-grade students transformed the space into a bustling hub of young researchers eager to explain everything from the mechanics of roller coasters to the scientific reasoning behind why trees lose their leaves to why human bodies develop celiac disease. You certainly would not have found standard book reports here.

The presentations were the culmination of the classroom's "I Wonder" Project, an initiative born from a gifted book study that encouraged students to inquire, think, and learn at much higher conceptual levels. Rather than assigning traditional topics, Ms. Edwards tasked each student with choosing a subject they were genuinely curious about. From there, the third graders formulated their own research questions, hunted for answers, and synthesized their findings into a final project.

Each student crafted a unique visual aid to guide guests through their chosen topic, allowing parents to see firsthand exactly what inspired their children’s curiosity. By shifting the focus from simple memorization to active inquiry, the project gave these young learners an early taste of independent academic research, driven entirely by their own wonder.I wonder project ....I wonder project ....I wonder project ....I wonder project ....
